| Pondera Winery was started by the Howard family, Dan, Pat & Shane Howard, Shane’s wife Perri Tate and Pat’s brother Mel Mandville. As a family, we have always loved sharing great food and wine. Few things are as delightful and fulfilling as a gathering of friends or family conversing over a delicious meal with excellent wine. Our love of wine, coupled with our artistic nature sparked the idea of creating our own winery. The name Pondera was chosen to remind us to always find balance in our lives and to take the time to share the rewards of hard work with the people we care about. At Pondera winery, our goal is to make an intense, well balanced blend of traditional Bordeaux varietals. We start by sourcing our fruit from some of the best vineyards in Washington’s Columbia Valley.
