DON QUADE - The relationship between opposite and competing elements is a great source of inspiration in the creation of my work. I like to think that juxtaposing these images creates a sense of ‘friendly friction’ that draws in the viewer for close examination. I often mask and then re-paint and re-mask and re-paint until I am satisfied in both equal parts creation and destruction. My goal is to find an aesthetically pleasing middle ground between the conflicting and driving forces found in everyday nature.
