Dino Paravano, Italian by birth, moved to South Africa with his family in 1947. He started painting at a very early age. Initially he was encouraged and educated in art by his father, thereafter he attended the Johannesburg College of Art, where he received further instruction. Paravano and his wife, Kiki, have been living in Arizona since 1992.
Paravano is an international artist, specializing in wildlife painting. Since 1966 he has held 14 one-man exhibitions in the major cities of South Africa as well as in New York and London, and participated in over 190 two person, three person and group exhibitions internationally, over 90 of which were international museum shows.
1995 marked his ninth consecutive year in the prestigious “Birds in Art” exhibit held by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin. He has also been accepted into their “Wildlife: The Artist’s View”. In 1993 in the “Birds in Art” exhibit, Paravano received the prestigious honor, Master Wildlife Artist. He has been the recipient of numerous awards worldwide.
Paravano’s work is in museum, corporate and private collections around the world - South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Europe and the Orient. He has over thirty limited edition prints including seven from Mill Pond Press, his current publisher. He is a member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists and a member of the Pastel Society of America.
Paravano has illustrated two books by bestselling author, Peter Hathaway Capstick; “The Last Horizons” and “Death in a Lonely Land”. Nine paintings in the book “African Wildlife in Art” are also credited to him. Paravano has been featured in Safari Club International Magazine, Hunters Quest Magazine, Wildlife in Art, Sporting Classics and American Artist.
